Tikica Benjamin on Launching the VIBE Conference

In a recent episode of our Now That’s Significant podcast, guest host Keri Vermaak spoke with Tikica Benjamin, a seasoned market research professional with over 20 years of experience. Their conversation explored Tikica’s impressive career journey and her latest passion project—the VIBE Black Market Research & Insights Professionals Conference.

A career built on connection

Tikica’s career has spanned leading organizations such as Procter & Gamble, Georgia Pacific, Visa, and Comcast. Through her various roles, she has always prioritized professional growth and meaningful industry relationships. The idea for VIBE began years ago at a research conference, where she and former colleagues reflected on their time together at Procter & Gamble. Together, they decided it would be fun to have a reunion. That moment highlighted the need for a dedicated space for Black market researchers to connect and support one another.

Creating an intentional space

Vibe is not just another research conference; it is designed to foster genuine connections and professional development opportunities. “This conference will be one, it'll be intentional about networking and connection,” Tikica explained. While attendees can expect engaging panels and skill-building sessions, Vibe’s primary focus will be immersive, interactive discussions. “We’re usually one of only a couple in a room… really just having a space where we can connect and intentionally make those connections with each other.”

Overcoming challenges

Launching an entirely new conference is no small feat, and Tikica has faced significant obstacles along the way. “Honestly, the most significant one was fear and just overcoming that fear of doing something that hasn't been done,” she admitted. Beyond the emotional challenges, she has also had to navigate logistical complexities, such as securing speakers, funding, and curating impactful content. However, her unwavering belief in the importance of this initiative has kept her motivated.

Looking ahead

With the first VIBE conference was held in March 2025. With it, Tikica is forging a path for greater representation and support within the market research industry. By providing a dedicated space for Black researchers to engage, collaborate, and grow, she is paving the way for stronger professional networks and a more inclusive future in insights.

For those looking to get involved, now is the time to connect, support, and be part of this movement to elevate Black market research professionals.
